It’s taken a little practice to keep Hayden from removing them. We’ve resorted to covering them with small circular band-aids (you know, the ones that look like Janet Jackson’s nipple guards from the Superbowl?). Last week, once we got the procedure down, Hayden started detoxing. I could tell. He began lining things up halfway across the house, started making strange noises, and was very energetic. I grabbed my little Dixie-like collection cup and did a UTM.
Background: Hayden has never pulled many metals. A year’s worth of DAN left us with a porphyrin test that wasn’t much better than 12 months before. They showed the highest metal count I’ve ever seen. So, they’re in there…and they need to come out. Don’t get me wrong, I love DAN, but my son was a tough nut to crack. Enter Dr. Mullan and Dr. Amy Yasko’s protocol (more on them later). Now we’re seeing some progress.
Today, I received the results of the UTM. Fabulous, if I do say so myself! His creatinine was low, so the numbers are actually higher than what they seem. He pulled a wide variety of metals. Even though they’re still in the green, this is big for Hayden. Below are the results.
And, as I type this, I’m perched at the computer with my very own B12 patch between my shoulder blades. I’m perky, I’m spunky, and doggone it, I feel good. I may even fix supper for my husband tonight. I’m going to start buying these babies in bulk.

THAT, dear Chrystal, is a BEAUT of a UTM. It doesn't matter that all stuff is in the green. Hayden could be eliminating this much stuff every single time he pees!! Trust me, it adds up!
ReplyDeleteI thought so. :) I was so proud. :) My little guy's language has shot up in the past two weeks, I also forgot to mention that. I posted a video of him on facebook. My friends can really tell a difference. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome Crystal. Maybe we'll have to try Yasko instead of DAN when we get back from THoughtful House.
ReplyDeleteI've just read your blog for the first time and I think I love you. Platonically of course. I don't know much about Dr. Yasko but I think I'll go a'googling now. You are awesome, almost as awesome as I am.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog and pointing me to your blog. Looking forward to diving into it. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Kristen
I'm glad to hear your guy is doing well, and especially about the language. With our guy, the more we could explain things, and he could explain things, the easier life was for everyone.
ReplyDeleteSorry for misunderstanding your comment.
As you guessed, working with and around our guys autism is much less in-your-face now. We still have to work at it, and there are many years of dealing with schools left ahead, but it has got much easier.
Do you think a UTM Test is similar to the Great Plains OATS test? It seems to test the same things. We had Gabe tested and the only things he showed levels for was lead and arsenic. Weird....I know. No mercury or anything. Are you only using the B12 to chelate or something else? We have Gabe on the MB12 injections and I'm seeing some crazy behaviors from him so far. Happy for you that you are seeing some great stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteWe used to do OAT tests, and it seems like they tested the gut...things like bacteria and yeast levels? Technically, we're using B12 to support his methylation pathway, which is responsible for detox. I'm going to write a little post soon explaining what we do (Dr. Yasko's approach). It's kinda confusing, but it will help readers who aren't familiar with it, I think. Some kids have a hard time handling methyl groups (which is MB12). Hayden can't tolerate a bunch of them, so we have to stay away from B12 shots. They made him hyper and stimmy. Thank you for the reply. :) Hang in there, Hayden's hyperness calmed down a little after he got accustomed to the shots. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for finding my blog.
ReplyDeleteWow. B-12 patches. Thanks for the link to that page. How big are the patches? Was it hard to get Hayden to wear them? They just sound awesome!
