But, today I'm sickened. Julie Gerberding, former Director at the CDC, has now been named President of Merck Vaccines. Is anyone other than families struck by autism concerned about this? Coincidence? Hmm, I think not. Mainstream media coverage? No, I'm sure it'll take a back seat to UK's 2,000th win.
Just let me say, that's like appointing my fat ass as Executive Director to Hostess Snack Cakes. This takes the cake, literally. And if I was Executive Director of Hostess Snack Cakes, I'd distribute Hostess Snack Cakes Shove-It-Up-Your-Ass Awards. Why yes, Julie, that's nearly the exact size I had in mind. Enjoy your success.

For more information (about Julie Gerberding, not the Snack Cake Awards) , head to Adventures in Autism's post.

LOL YOU put it in the exact words that I would have BRAVO MY FRIEND!!!! Julie Gerberding deserves to have LOTS of them shoved where the sun don't shine.... The astonishing part to me is that our nation doesn't seem to care about it at all!!!! I"m with you and I'm TIRED of being let down constantly by our government!
ReplyDeleteAs a person not affected directly by autism, I will admit I had no idea that this was happening. It took me several links to go through and think hmm, what does this mean? I haven't read the studies linking/disputing vaccine usage to autism yet, however, so I feel I'm still unable to make a clear decision. Thanks for opening my eyes to this though.
ReplyDeleteDo scientists know if there's anything predisposing children to autism that maybe the vaccines trigger? I still have some reading to do, but I don't understand why everyone doesn't have autism if they're vaccinated. Or perhaps everyone does but each to varying extents. I could see that too.
Thanks Lisa. :) I agree.
ReplyDeletebluewhitelife, the studies are funded or affiliated BY the pharmaceutical companies or organizations that are in cahoots with them...the CDC, for example. There is a huge conflict of interest. Those studies are flawed.
Yes, I believe there is a genetic predisposition. I have studied about the methylation pathway, a group of genes that are responsible for detox in the body. I think autistic kids have several genes (as does the general population, everybody has genetic mutations) that are broken in this pathway. When you can't detox, children develop autism (with the right triggers). It's so sad, but Dr. Yasko says genetics are the gun, vaccines pull the trigger. Thanks for keeping an open mind, most people don't. :)
Interesting post. I'm sorry to say that I'm unaware of the significance of this appointment. Will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteWell, the CDC is supposed to regular vaccines. There is clearly a conflict of interest when a former director goes to work for a vaccine manufacturer. So sad...
ReplyDeleteCrystal, thanks for visiting the other day. I read your bio before coming here. I am a stepmom to 3 boys and now have a be.u.tee.ful grandson. His mom asked me about vaccinations last year and I had no opinion, as my kids were already past when they moved in, and I haven't kept up with kids'news.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for what you're doing w/your writing. I'm so glad you're writing a book. Good luck with that.
I can't begin to imagine the pain and trials you face each day. We go nuts if Santino gets so much as a scratch.
Bless you and your family. Merry Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by the blog and hope to see you "around" again!
ReplyDeleteI am a family therapist and have worked with autistic kids before, so glad you are fighting the good fight with it.

Merry Christmas Crystal!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your kind visit. You are always welcome my friend!
~Warmly, ~Melissa :)
Did not know about this. I think I have been under a holiday rock. Thank you for sharing this information. The slippery slope between big corporate and our highest government officials that we trust to keep us safe should be a mainstream story and an important one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and yours have a safe and happy holiday. I will be back to learn more. :-)
Mmm, that is interesting. It's hard to not draw conclusions of a conflict of interest...
ReplyDeleteCrystal, thanks for the response! I'm in the science field, so I tend to question anything before I know more about it. That also means I'm a believer in vaccines (except h1n1...no, guys, you didn't make it "the same" way as regular flu. it didn't grow in the eggs, remember?) so this new information is confusing me admittedly. Luckily, I don't have to make a vaccine decision anytime soon! Your blog is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteCrystal thanks for the drop in! I did not know that this happened with the CDC and all that. Doing tons of research on the cosmetics field, I've run into the same things. Huge conflicts of interest all over the place that you wouldn't know about unless you rented a Michael Moore flick or did the leg work on your own! Hang in there, one day things'll change for the better...
ReplyDeleteMy best, Lynn
