I always wanted Hayden to talk. What kind of mother wouldn't? Something deep inside told me that one day, he'd never shut up. Well, that's where we're at now. His back and forth communication still pretty much sucks, but by God, he's talking. And talking. And it continues from sun up to sun down.
Usually it's about things that he's heard on that God forsaken Mr. Rogers show, but lately, public outings have been interesting. The other day, he managed to embarrass me twice in one store. He walked by some lady and said, "How's it going, Toots?"
Then later, as a toddler had what I can only guess was an exorcism (or possibly a tantrum), he looked at him and said, "You're a bad, BAD girl."
Well, at least he got the first half right. I didn't have the heart to correct him, on either account.

Over the holidays my bird watched the Shalom Sesame (sesame street for Jews) episode about Hanukkah. Over and over. Every so often she'll run around and say "the Jewish people" over and over. Last weekend we were in Bed, Bath & Beyond and she was running around saying, "Hi. I'm Jewish."
ReplyDeleteIt's true. She *is* Jewish, but still....
OMG, that is HILARIOUS!!!! lol.
ReplyDeleteYup, know that feeling. My mom still laughs and tells me that God must have a sense of humor since I prayed for so long for Logan to talk now I have to tell him to be quiet for a few minutes or mommy will go postal! lol
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny and you just inspired my next blog post. I am glad that you stopped by my blog and even happier that I can relate entirely with your post.
ReplyDeletehehehehehe! I really enjoyed this one:)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I'm new to your blog and was wondering if you could tell me how long was your journey to the point of having language? My daughter is 3yrs old, diagnosed last year. We've had ups and downs with ABA but are still going through it. She just started school last month and it seems to be going pretty well although, I'm fighting for private speech because she has a hard time attending. In a group speech setting, I just don't know if she will get out of it what she could if it were one on one. My daughter has language, pretty much just manding for things but she also still uses a LOT of jargon. So, I was wondering how long before you got to this point of the journey with regards to your sons language? :)
ReplyDeleteHe started talking bit by bit once we started biomed and ABA. Those are the two keys to regaining speech, I believe. Speech hasn't done really anything for him except work with pronouncing things. :) I'll email you with more info!
